MathXL for School was developed by Pearson Education. The online tool is highly interactive and provides individualized learning for high school learners at all skill levels. Teachers are able to create customized study plans for each student depending upon their performance on subsequent assignments and tests. Objectives-based tests are easily created within the instructor interface, and ready-made assignments can be uploaded within a matter of minutes. Instead of teachers having to spend so much time and effort on grading assignments and tests, MathXL grades each assignment, quiz, and test automatically (Pearson Education, 2016).
Students are able to work at their own pace and they are not allowed to move forward in the curriculum until they have obtained a 90 percent or better on any given assignment or quiz. MathXL pinpoints each students’ knowledge gaps, while providing interactive media tools to help students solve the problems step-by-step on their own, or with the help of a peer. Students can email instructors the problems that are causing them the most difficulty, and feedback can be given immediately or at the teacher’s convenience.
Teachers and administrators can analyze and interpret individual and group performance with data-driven reports, which can help teachers revise instructional strategies. Administrators can use the data to help students meet state standards and identify learning objectives for teacher professional development (Pearson Education, 2016).
